Deejai Riangkrul

Founder & CEO, VOLANTT

A Thai-Canadian entrepreneur working between Vancouver and Bangkok, Deejai leads VOLANTT across brand strategy, creative direction, film and digital experiences. Business-minded by training, creatively curious by nature, and rather particular about the finer details.

Deejai Riangkrul is the Thai-Canadian founder and CEO of VOLANTT, an independent creative practice established in Vancouver and later expanded into Thailand.

His work spans brand strategy, art direction, filmmaking, photography, digital experiences and marketing, with particular experience across luxury hospitality, real estate, fashion and the arts.

He studied commerce at the UBC Sauder School of Business, with early professional experience in finance and consulting. That background continues to inform his creative approach, combining an appreciation for aesthetics and storytelling with strategic thinking and an understanding of business.

Through VOLANTT, he has led multidisciplinary projects spanning original cinematic storytelling for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2026, runway photography at Vancouver Fashion Week, and creative content production for Michelin-starred BLUE by Alain Ducasse.

His work extends into luxury hospitality and real estate, including visual storytelling for Tatvani, a private retreat within the Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes collection, and showcasing residences at The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Bangkok, within the iconic King Power Mahanakhon, to international audiences through real estate marketing.

Working across cultures, markets and disciplines has shaped his appreciation for different perspectives, thoughtful craftsmanship and ideas that don’t always fit neatly into one category.

The perspective has travelled. The curiosity remains.

A universal language of craft.

For the 2026 LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize at National Gallery Singapore, Volantt developed and produced a collection of five short films about the people, practices and personal histories behind contemporary craft.

We approached the commission through original storytelling concepts rather than exhibition coverage. At the centre was Mother Tongues, a film about language, culture and the inheritance of craft.

Mother Tongues

Artisans speak in their own languages. At first the voices overlap without subtitles, a rhythm before a meaning. Then the subtitles arrive and the same question is heard everywhere: how did you learn your craft?

A Thousand Hands

One question put to every maker: who taught you? The answers are parents, teachers, professors, traditions and themselves. There is no single way to inherit a craft.

Beyond
the object.

Every piece carries the mark of its maker. We set out to discover the stories that could not be seen.

  • A cinematic approach to craft. Texture, material and precise composition. Close detail beside wider views of each work in the gallery.
  • Authentic voices. Narratives built from what the makers actually said, never from a script they were asked to repeat.
  • Sound as story. Overlapping languages in Mother Tongues. A loop in Endless that never resolves.
  • One collection, five treatments. Each film has its own narrative, edit and rhythm.

The making of a modern development brand.

Soleil Peaks began with a vision shared by two Thai-Canadian founders: to bring a more thoughtful approach to residential development in Koh Samui. From the earliest stages, Volantt Marketing worked alongside them to turn that vision into a distinctive brand.

The work spans brand strategy, identity, website, creative direction, photography, film, social and ongoing communications. It continues as the first residences take shape.
